Terms of Use

Last updated October 27, 2026

1. The agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to the Habiroot app (formerly “Roots – Streak Tracker”), its widgets and Apple Watch app, and this website (together, “Habiroot”), published by the independent developer of Habiroot (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Habiroot you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you got Habiroot from Apple’s App Store, your license to use the app is also governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). These Terms add to the Standard EULA; where the two conflict about the license itself, the Standard EULA applies. Apple is not responsible for Habiroot or its content.

2. What Habiroot is

Habiroot helps you track habits, keep streaks, run focus sessions and grow a virtual garden. It’s a motivational tool, not medical, psychological or professional advice, and it isn’t a treatment for addiction or any health condition. If you’re trying to quit something that affects your health, please also talk to a qualified professional.

3. Who can use Habiroot

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to consent to the use of online services without a parent’s permission, if that is higher.

4. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you create an account, and keep your password and devices secure.
  • You’re responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using it.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete Account). See the Privacy Policy for what this deletes.

5. Habiroot Plus and subscriptions

Habiroot is free to download. Habiroot Plus is an optional upgrade that unlocks extra features. Plus is not on sale yet; this section applies once it is. We plan to offer: Annual (from $29.99/year), Monthly (from $4.99/month), Lifetime (from $59.99 once). The price, length and any trial for each option are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and may differ by country.

  • Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
  • Automatic renewal. Subscriptions (Annual and Monthly) renew automatically for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price then in effect.
  • Free trial. Where a free trial is offered (for example 7 days on the Annual plan), it is available once per Apple ID per subscription group. When the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings after purchase: on iPhone, Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your Habiroot account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Lifetime. The Lifetime option is a one-time, non-renewing purchase that unlocks Plus for as long as Habiroot offers the Plus features it includes.
  • Price changes. If a subscription price changes, Apple will notify you in advance as its rules require, and where required you’ll be asked to agree before the new price applies.
  • Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled under Apple’s policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. This doesn’t limit any rights you have under consumer law.
  • Restoring purchases. Use “Restore Purchases” in the Habiroot Plus screen, signed in with the same Apple ID and Habiroot account you bought with.
  • Early accounts. Accounts created before Habiroot Plus first goes on sale receive Plus features at no charge for as long as Habiroot offers them.

If Habiroot becomes available on Google Play, purchases there are billed and managed through Google Play under its terms, with the same auto-renewal and cancellation principles.

6. Coins and plants

You earn coins by using Habiroot and can spend them on plant species in the in-app shop. You can also buy coin packs as in-app purchases through the App Store or Google Play. Coins and plants are a limited license to use virtual items inside the app. They have no monetary value outside the app, can’t be exchanged for money or transferred, and may be adjusted if they were earned through a bug or misuse. Coins you buy don’t expire. Coins and your garden are stored on your device, so earned coins and plants are lost if you delete the app; coins from coin packs are added back from your purchase history when you sign in again.

7. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • break the law, or use Habiroot to infringe anyone’s rights;
  • try to access other people’s accounts or data, or our systems beyond what the app allows;
  • interfere with or overload the service, or use bots or scripts against it;
  • reverse engineer the app except where the law allows, or get around purchases or limits;
  • put unlawful or offensive content in names you send to our servers.

8. Your content and our content

Your habit names and other content stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to run Habiroot for you. Habiroot itself, including its design, artwork, plants and the Habiroot name, belongs to us or our licensors. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.

9. Third-party services

Habiroot relies on services from Apple (App Store, Sign in with Apple, Screen Time, widgets, Apple Watch), Google (Sign in with Google), Supabase and RevenueCat. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms. App blocking depends on Apple’s Screen Time features and may not stop every distraction; it’s offered as a focus aid, not a guarantee.

10. Changes to Habiroot

We’ll keep improving Habiroot, which means features may change, be added or be removed. If we make a change that significantly reduces what paid Plus features include, we’ll give reasonable notice. We may suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these Terms.

11. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Habiroot reliable, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that reminders will always be delivered, or that data will never be lost. Streaks, coins and plants are motivational features and could be affected by bugs, device settings or time-zone changes.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of Habiroot. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Habiroot in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that can’t be excluded by law, or limits rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.

13. Ending this agreement

You can stop using Habiroot and delete your account at any time. We may stop providing Habiroot or end these Terms with reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as 8, 11, 12 and 14) continue after the agreement ends.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where the publisher of Habiroot is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. Before starting a formal dispute, please email us; most problems can be sorted out quickly.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Habiroot after the changes take effect means you accept them.

16. General

If part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a sale or reorganization of Habiroot.
